He was born November 11, 1952 in Charlotte to Edwin and Ruth Ellen Riggsbee. David was a lifelong Christian and a member of Charlotte’s M2M Church. He graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1971 where he was a member of the swim team, choir and theater. He attended Lees McRae College in 71-72, and Mitchell College 72-74. He loved plants and worked at various plant stores and nurseries in Charlotte. Plants and flowers became his lifelong hobby. David worked in the fastener industry before retiring. He truly loved his friends, family and his neighbors.
David was preceded in death by Edwin Riggsbee ( father), Ruth Riggsbee (mother) and Ed Riggsbee Jr. (brother). He is survived by his wife of 41 years Betty Jo Shakelton Riggsbee, sister Robin Rogers (Al) and brother Ray Riggsbee (Beth), along with several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held Saturday April 27, 2024 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Galilee Ministries located at 3601 Central Ave in Charlotte, NC.
