I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of Dave.  My sincere condolences.

I knew Dave well over perhaps 30 years during my time as a faculty member at UNC - Charlotte and at Queens University of Charlotte.  Dave was the book rep for my area of philosophy.  We had many enjoyable conversations, ranging far beyond what books to order for the next semester.

He was a thoughtful, knowledgeable, witty, and good person.  I shall miss him.

My deepest condolences to Kay and the rest of Dave's family...Dave was my "book guy" for years during my college teaching career and I always got a big smile on my face when Dave walked through the door. It was so easy to talk with Dave about my academic resource needs...he was a man of high integrity, a straight shooter and I considered him my academic partner...not just my book rep; but it was easy to talk with Dave...period. I would cross paths with him at the YMCA over the years and he was always the same guy...a relaxed friendly smile and eager to catch up a bit. I was happy for Dave when he told me about his retirement plans...and I trust he had a wonderful retirement...that didn't last nearly long enough. Peace to Dave's family and friends...

We knew Dave for over 35 years. He started as our client but became a true and trusted friend. His questions were thoughtful, and he often offered valuable advice. We truly enjoyed his wonderful sense of humor. This occurred with many phone calls and text messages. Sometimes a comic strip would show up in the mail from him.  It was always funny and related to some issue we had discussed or something going on in our life. We will miss this wonderful man and hope to find ways to remember him and to carry on his legacy. Our prayers are with Kay.

We were so sorry to learn of Dave’s passing. We’ve been neighbors and good friends of Dave and Kay for over 25 years. Over that span of time the four of us enjoyed so many good times together. Dave was always so kind. We will miss Dave’s sense of humor and his outlook on life. Rest in Peace, Dave. You are greatly missed.

To Dave's family, With sympathy and sadness, and confidence that you are surrounded by many with love and support. As one of Dave's expansive numbers of admirers, colleagues (at Prentice-Hall) as I thought then, and now, how blessed and fortunate we were to be able to collaborate with Dave, and to experience how others embraced his humor, his  welcoming, generous spirit; always the mentor, as you have heard and will continue to hear Agentleman in full, accented with a ponytail. I am so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. We were in junior high together at Cochrane in Charlotte. I was so glad to reconnect with Dave on Facebook many years later. I grieve with Kay and all who knew Dave.

1966 - Met at Independence HS. He was a little rough around the social edges, but I always knew he was there when needs arose. Will miss our banter on FB. Say hello to Melanie, and I can't stop looking at this one either, Dave.

It was with shock and sadness that I learned of Dave's death.  As I have mentioned to others in the past, I have a vivid memory of when he joined our 6th grade class at Hickory Grove Elementary School.  We did not keep up after high school and only reconnected 11 years ago through Facebook.  Getting to know Dave better -- his wry wit and his like-minded views on things that mattered to me -- made me regret not knowing him better during our school years.  I would have laughed a lot more, I think.  My sympathies to his wife and to all those who cherished his friendship, as I did.  Dave, we will miss you so much.

Dave and I grew up in the same neighborhood. We connected several years ago on Facebook. I enjoyed his irreverent posts as his sense of humor was just like mine. We messaged back and forth, catching up on the lives of people we knew. His death is a real shock. I will miss him.

This was a total shock to Jane and I . I loved him as he was such a real person  and good buddy even after we left publishing .I will always remember his description of NRA coming to town . Jane also loved his reinterpretation of the soft side sessions, Ed reminded me about the one more stoplight buddy run we did in Fort Funkydale . He was thinking about running a marathon so we decided not do a long run in the comfy humidity of Fla . That was his marathon. Jane and I are sorry Kay! He was a good guy !
