David Luther Douglas, age 87, passed into eternal salvation on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. A son of the late Luther Douglas and Lollie Douglas, he was born on April 23, 1926 in Raeford, NC. Mr. Douglas was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army. Following the war, his wife and he founded Douglas Paving Company, which was successful in the Charlotte area and beyond for five decades.
At Mr. Douglas’ request, services will be private.
Mr. Douglas is survived by four children, Nora D. Drye and husband Michael, of Asheville, NC and Kissimmee, FL, David P. Douglas, of Charlotte, Michael B. Douglas, of Wilmington, NC, Maria “Ria” D. Goss and husband Pete, of Blowing Rock, NC; three grandchildren, Jessica K. Turner, Heather E. Kephart, Megan A. Drye; one great-grandchild, Sydel Turner-Ditroi and a sister, Beatrice Shepherd, of Jefferson, NC
