Dr. Daniel Bernstein, age 73, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away Thursday night, November 21, 2024. Danny was born in Flint, Michigan on February 22, 1951 to the late Irving and Pauline Bernstein. Danny was preceded in death by his brother, David Bernstein, his sister, Harriet (Sami) Semp, and his niece, Devorah Semp. Danny is survived by his loving wife, Janice; daughters Bethany (Tommy) Mann of Charlotte, NC and Rayna (James) Dickens of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Dylan, Claire, and Everett Mann of Charlotte, NC, and Mariam and Sam Dickens of Atlanta, GA; sister Lee (Jeron) Frank of Lakewood Ranch, FL; and niece Peninah Semp of Chicago, IL.
Danny attended Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and practiced in Flint, MI for 15 years, followed by another 31 years in Charlotte, NC. Danny was a gifted musician and talented piano player who played by ear, creating new music to share with others. In addition to music, some of his hobbies and interests included watches, fountain pens, cars and woodworking. Soon after moving to Charlotte, he started the Charlotte Audiophile Society where he made many friends. He was a kind person who wanted to help people in any way he could. His wonderful sense of humor kept people laughing whenever they were with him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and acquaintances.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Temple Israel (4901 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28226), followed by interment at Hebrew Cemetery (1801 Statesville Ave, Charlotte, NC 28206). In lieu of flowers, donations may to the Humane Society of Charlotte.
