Carmen Lidia Colon

"Lidia" as she is called by friends and family, is survived by her 8 children Aida, Edna, Raul, Jose, Wanda, Robert, Arlene and Nelson. She is preceded her husband Raul and two daughters Elba and Carmen (Tata). Lidia has over 25 grandchildren and great-grandmother to over 30 children.

Lidia met and married the love of her life, Raul Colon Verges in Puerto Rico. Raul and Lidia made their way from Puerto Rico to New Jersey in 1956. Throughout the years, they lived in the Bronx, Harlem, Salinas, PR, Middletown, NY, Florida and finally Matthews, NC. She cared for her husband until his passing in 2010.

Lidia was known as a prayer warrior, passionate about God. Her immeasurable love for her family and kindness towards others has left an undeniable mark. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed cooking for everyone. There always seemed to be enough for whomever walked through the door!

Lidia enjoyed decorating her home, crocheting, caring for her pets and riding on the back of Raul's Harley Davidson.

Their family's legacy will live on through both their grand and great- grandchildren.

Rest in Peace Carmen Lidia Colon, you will be missed, but never forgotten.
