He served his country honorably during World War II with the US Marines Military Police stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Calvin was a long time member of Eastway Baptist Church in Charlotte where he was a Deacon for many years. He was a softball coach for girls at Third Presbyterian Church & Eastway Baptist and women at Eastway Baptist as well as boys and men's teams over the years. He loved to work in his garden. Calvin was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was owner of L.S. Kelbaugh & Son Welding, Inc. that he began with his father. He was activily working through 2009.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Billie Jean Kelbaugh; two children, C. Scott Kelbaugh, Jr. (Holly) and Donna Quales (Art) as well as his grandchildren Matt and Marcus Quales and Hailey and Kayln Kelbaugh.
The family will receive friends at Eastway Baptist Church, 2749 Eastway Drive, Charlotte, NC 28205 on Tuesday, May 27th, 2014 at 10:00am with a service to follow at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Eastway Baptist Church, Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region or The Kilah Davenport Foundation.
