Calvin Lewis Edmonds was born to the late Lorraine Edmonds and James L. Polite, Jr. in Newark, New Jersey on January 27, 1968. Calvin was the eighth of twelve children; the youngest of six boys in the family. Calvin was educated in the Newark Public School system, having attended Peshine Avenue Elementary and Weequahic High School, continuing his studies at Essex College of Business. Calvin went on to begin his career in facilities at Schering-Plough in Kenilworth, NJ, where he moved up the ranks over the course of his tenure. Calvin then worked for the former, University of Medicine & amp; Dentistry of New Jersey, known today as University Hospital, as an Environmental Services Supervisor.
In 2016, Calvin relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina to explore an opportunity in the contract services
industry with Aramark. He worked as a manager with Aramark until the time of his passing.
Calvin was a dear friend to many and was part of a unique and special brotherhood with friends we consider family, of Seymour Avenue and the surrounding community. Calvin was also a member and brother of the biker’s club, Joker’s Wild of Newark, New Jersey.
In 1987, Calvin and Helen Worthington welcomed their eldest son, Chalon Aaron Worthington. Calvin later
met and married Leigh Mitchell and added to this union, Sydney Simone Edmonds and Bryce Cameron
Edmonds. His three children were the light of his life and sources of great pride.
In 2016, Calvin relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina and made it his new home. In 2019, while in Charlotte, he met the love of his life, Elisa Parker, and asked for her hand in marriage. Calvin extended his family becoming a stepfather to Elisa’s two daughters, Emari Abrams and Tashae Hill, and grandfather to Khloe Smith. Elisa and Emari filled Calvin with much joy and brought a new meaning to his life as he looked forward to making Elisa his wife.
Calvin enjoyed the simplest pleasures in life. Riding his motorcycle, football (The Dallas Cowboys), and
enjoying a cigar at his favorite cigar bar with friends. He also enjoyed a good game of golf as he found solace in hitting the green. Calvin was exceptionally skilled at working with his hands, lending a helping hand to his friends who were in need of plumbing, electrical and carpentry work. His love for life and his family, whether biological or adopted, was his biggest joy and he was often termed as the protector of many. His siblings will eternally miss and revere, the care he took to ensure they were always good.
