Brenda was the fourth of five children to the late James and Veda Langston. She professed her life to Christ at an early age. She graduated Garinger High School, in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1981.
She became the devoted wife of Michael Burgess on July 4th, 1988. They shared 33 years of marriage together. They were always there for each other, and Michael gave Her a source of strength. She loved him dearly.
Brenda was known for her kind, generous, spirit, her love of her Family, and her sense of compassion.
She spent her time being a “Mother Hen” to everyone she loved. She would call to make sure you were taking care of yourself and ask if you needed anything, even while in the midst of her own illness. Brenda believed in family. Her commitment to those that she called her own was strong. She believed in being neighborly, respectful, and treating others as you want to be treated. Brenda loved her nieces and nephews like they were her own. She enjoyed spoiling them rotten, but was sure to share some of her “Mama wisdom” when they needed it. Brenda loved to laugh! She felt it was the best medicine. She found humor in the most creative places.
She was a loving wife, wonderful daughter, the best sister, and the most extraordinary aunt.
She had an amazing ability to connect with others, show empathy, and lend strength to those around her. She was a prayer warrior, and believed in the power of conversation with God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Veda Langston, her brother, Jimmy Langston, and her sister, Susan Baucom.
