Betty Sue Hudnall was born on March 15, 1938, the eldest of Emmet and Ivory Hudnall’s five daughters. After graduating from DuPont High School in Belle, WV, Betty married “the boy next door,” Dennie Prunty, in 1957 and they raised three sons. Betty and Dennie were married for 43 years until his death in 1998.
Prior to her 25th birthday, Betty was diagnosed with type I diabetes which she successfully managed for over 60 years. In addition to being a wonderful and caring mother, Betty held a variety of jobs throughout her life including secretarial positions in industry, school, restaurant management, and church ministry. She was also a church organist and sang in the choir. In her leisure time, Betty enjoyed reading and working jigsaw puzzles.
In addition to her husband Dennie, she was preceded in death by her sisters Norlene Faye and Sandra Lee Hudnall. Betty is survived by her much beloved and supportive husband Calvin Wyatt who has been a faithful and caring companion for the past 13 years. She is also survived by her sons and step-daughters: Randy (Elizabeth) of Pinole CA, Marty (Mary) of Belmont, Brent (Jill) of Iron Station, Teresa (Gary) Morgan of Denver, Lisa (John) Trivette of Denver, and Belinda Roper of Mooresville. Betty enjoyed her grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Kyle (Summer), Kevin (Leslea), Emily, Bryce, Lee, Jenna, Victoria (Houston), Justin, Wyatt, Seth, and Hudson, as well as her great-grandchildren: Asher, Addi, Everett, Daviel, and Kaelyn. Also surviving are sisters, Gaila (Barry) Lambert of Charlotte, Janet Kay (Eldon) Hamrick of New Castle DE, sister-in-law, Esther (Carl) Blake of Bridgeport WV, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her family, Betty enjoyed staying in touch with several childhood friends including Carolyn Shields of Indiana, Carla Bower (deceased) of Charleston WV, and Wanda Radcliffe (deceased) of Manchester TN.
The family will greet friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, the 29th of July, 2023 in the Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Service. A service to celebrate her life will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Via’s Levine and Dickson Hospice House, 11900 VanStory Drive Huntersville, NC.
