Betty McPherson Johnson (Mac) peacefully passed away early Friday morning. Betty was born on October 9, 1931, and she passed away May 28, 2021.
Betty is survived by her daughter Jan Marie Scullin Johnson, her grandson Christopher Nelson Scullin, her nephews Jimmy Carrigan and Gene Carrigan and her long-time friend William S. Taylor. Betty was preceded in death by her husband James Nelson Johnson Jr., her parents James and Willie Mae McPherson and her sister Doris Carrigan.
Betty graduated from Harding High School in 1950 and was involved with the Harding Alumni Association. Betty also enjoyed working the desk at the Zodiac and Highlighters dances. She enjoyed assisting those that were new and showing them the ropes and introducing everyone. If she did not know someone, she would make sure she did by the end of the night. Betty also enjoyed traveling in a motor home, out West, Alaska and the mountains of North Carolina and Virginia.
There will be a grave side service at Forest Lawn West in Charlotte, NC, at 2;00 pm Wednesday. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Susan G. Komen and the American Cancer Society.
