On Friday, January 15, 2016, Anna Conner Dixon (“Jackie” to those who knew her well) died peacefully after a long illness. Jackie, the daughter of Walter Nathan Conner and his wife Mary Maxwell McEachern, was born April 29, 1921 at their family home on Flowe’s Store Road in Cabarrus County, N.C. and was the youngest of seven children. She moved to Charlotte after graduating from high school and lived with her older sister and brother-in-law, Sadie and Carl Tucker, while she pursued a license in cosmetology. She later went on to own and operate Scientific Beauty Salon for thirty years. During the course of her career, she relocated the Salon from Providence Rd to E 7th St. to its final location on the site she purchased, planned and constructed at 2101 Randolph Rd. When she first began her profession, Jackie lived in Miss Ruby’s Boarding House where she shared a room with her lifelong friend, Mary Lewis Brotherton. It was at the boarding house that Jackie met her husband of sixty-five years, Weston Dixon. Weston and Jackie were married on February 18, 1950 at Hawthorne Lane Methodist Church. They had two children, Linda Dixon Reinecke and Ann Dixon Coppage, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Jackie was known for her striking beauty, her strong-minded determination, her excellent cooking, and her faithful love and care for her family. She is already greatly missed. Jackie is survived by her husband, Weston; daughter Linda (Marc); daughter Ann (Jeff); granddaughter Meredith Reinecke Hill (Scott) and their daughter Molly; granddaughter Allison Reinecke Hodge (Jason) and their two children Elizabeth Ann (named for Jackie) and Weston; grandson Kevin Reinecke (Kirby) and their sons Charlie and Sam; grandson Jonathan Dixon Coppage; and granddaughter Julianna Dixon Coppage ( named for Jackie). Funeral services will be held Monday, January 18 at 1:00 at Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church with entombment following at Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive visitors one hour before the service in the church sanctuary.
