Amy Elizabeth Johnson, 51, of Charlotte, NC, passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, May 25th, 2011 at the Levine-Dickson Hospice House. She was born on December 28, 1959 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of Raymond F. Thompson and Mary K. (Morrow) Thompson.
Amy moved with her family to Bristol, VA in 1971 and graduated from John S. Battle High School. She attended Virginia Tech and graduated with an accounting degree and became a CPA. Amy and Robert L. Johnson with their daughter Anslee, the love of her life, settled in Charlotte in 1989 where she lived with Anslee until her passing.
Amy was a member of Myers Park United Methodist Church. She loved traveling, children, animals, nature, family outings, helping others, fishing and church.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Anslee, her dearest friend Robby Johnson, her mother Mary K. Thompson, two brothers, Ray (Jackie) Thompson and Jim (Jan) Thompson, two sisters, Jane (Geoff) Vosseller and Kathy (Richard) Quesenberry, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She is also survived by Betty Johnson, Randy (Lisa) Johnson, Chris (Corina) Johnson, Karen Johnson and nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Raymond F. Thompson.
There will be a memorial Celebration of Amy’s life on Saturday, June 4th at State Street United Methodist Church in Bristol, VA. Family will receive friends from 3:00 – 4:00 pm in the church parlor, and the service will follow immediately at 4:00 pm in the sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Buddy-Kemp Center of Charlotte or the Levine-Dickson Hospice House of Huntersville, NC.
