Ada is survived by three daughters: L. Teresa Windham, Irene Windham Rogers (Phil) and Tammy R. Windham, all of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren: Angie Stephens Sinclair, Jeffrey Stephens, Ashley Rogers Watford (Kyle) and April Rogers, six great grandchildren, five great, great grandchildren and one sister, Deidra Williams Cox of Jacksonville, FL.
Ada is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, ET Windham Jr., her first born daughter, Vickie Ann Windham Stephens, her son-in-law Dallas Gary Stephens, her mom and dad, two brothers and 3 sisters.
Ada was born July 7, 1927 in Waycross, GA. She was the second born of Silas Lee Williams and Margaret Harris Williams. Growing up, Ada loved to roller skate and bike around town. At the age of 14, Ada rode her bike to the train station where she met a young nineteen year old solider named ET Windham, who was going overseas. He asked her to write to him and they corresponded for about four years. When ET came home, he traveled to Jacksonville, FL, where Ada’s family had moved. ET asked Ada to marry him and they were married that day, April 29, 1946.
Ada was an avid gardener. Ada and ET always had a large garden. Ada would always can and freeze much of what was grown. Ada loved flowers, her favorite being roses. She always had flowers growing all around her house and yard.
Ada was also a seamstress, making all her and her daughters clothes, and also many quilts. She also loved to crochet, making baby booties, sweaters, and lovely scarves.
Ada was very family oriented and loved her four girls. She was always supportive of her girls.
Ada was much loved by her family and will be truly missed.
