CHAPIN – Funeral services for Ted L. Boozer, 83, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 23, 2015 at St. Andrews Baptist Church with interment at 1:00 p.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 110 Ministry Drive, Irmo, SC 29063 or St. Andrews Baptist Church, 230 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29210.
Mr. Boozer was born in Newberry, SC on January 1, 1932 and passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015. He was a son of the late John Oliver Boozer and Blanche Estelle Tinsley Boozer. He was also a brother to the late James Larry Boozer and Roy Oliver Boozer. Mr. Boozer was a graduate of Newberry High School in 1950. At the onset of the Korean War, he transferred from the South Carolina National Guard to the United States Air Force and participated in 25 Bombing Missions over North Korea as a B-29 crew member. Being discharged in 1953, he enrolled in Newberry College and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina earning a B. S. Degree in Civil Engineering. He received a Direct Commission in the Army Reserves and retired in 1992 with the rank of Colonel. He retired from the South Carolina Highway Department in 1991 as a Registered Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor.
Surviving are his wife of Chapin, Jo Boozer; children, Susan (Richard) Mattox, Cindy (Joey) Lanier and Clay Boozer; grandchildren, Morgan Lanier, Jody Lanier, Austin Mattox and Blake Mattox. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home at Dunbar Dutch Fork is assisting the family with the arrangements.
