Born January 31, 1934, in Kaleva, Michigan, Ginny was the daughter of Ward and Josephine Buckner. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Lewis King, in June of 1956, and they had four children together. Donald’s plane was shot down in Vietnam in May of 1966 and he has been listed as MIA since. Ginny continued to live in Muskegon and raise her children, while being very active in her church and community. Later in life she met Joseph W. Rhodes, and they were able to share 20 years together before his death in 2002. Anyone who knew Ginny would tell you her family meant everything to her.
Ginny was preceded in death by her father, Ward; her mother, Josephine; and younger brothers Robert and Duane. She is survived by three of her brothers; Evert Buckner, Elroy Buckner, and Dennis (Butch) Buckner all of Michigan. She left behind her children, Cindy (King) Nakahara and her husband, Roland of Seattle, WA; Ronald and his wife, Rene’ (Metty) of Ravenden, AR; Robert and his wife, Tracy (Simone) of Chandler, AZ; and Kaylene (King) Schultz and her husband, Tim of Huntington Beach, CA. Her very well-loved grandchildren, Raelyn Nakahara, Devin Nakahara, Brian King, Rachel King, Nicolette King, Blake King, Tyler Schultz, and Tatum Schultz as well as her three great-grandchildren, Hallie King, Colton King, and Brooklyn Assumpcao, will all have their sweet, strong grandmother forever in their hearts.
A small service was held in Chandler, AZ, on January 22nd. There will be another service in Muskegon, Michigan this July 18 to celebrate her life.
