Robin was born November 26, 1956, to Loyal and Joan Hood, and was second in line of six children.
Robin is survived by her children and their spouses: Joshua Lee of San Diego, CA; Chad Alan and Stephanie Renee of Pekin, IL; Nicoli Eugene and Emily Ann of Chandler, AZ; Taylor Adam of Tempe, AZ; Trevor Clayton and Curtiss James “CJ” Thompson-McBride of Phoenix, AZ; and her niece whom she assisted in raising like a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Jackson of East Peoria. She is survived by her dear grandchildren Madison “Noah” and Rhett Thompson (sons of Nicoli), and Hayden and Halle Thompson and Jayce Burt (children of Chad). She is also survived by her former husband, Rusty Eugene Thompson of Pekin, IL, and by her loved sisters and brother, Suzanne Marie Redecker of Watertown, WI; Kathleen Patrice Ferruzza of El Paso, IL; Kyle Patrick Hood of Gerard, IL; and Barbara Elizabeth Brown of Edelstein, IL. Her parents, Loyal and Joan, and brother, Keith Alan Hood, preceded her in passing.
Robin grew up in the Midwest moving frequently with her father’s career in the airline industry, living in Swisher, IA; Iowa City, IA; and later Peoria, IL, where she graduated from Central High School in 1975. Soon after, she married in 1977, and began raising her family of five boys in East Peoria, IL.
She continued her education, twice graduating from Illinois Central College in East Peoria with an Associate Degree in Arts and Science in 1978 and an Associate Degree in Applied Science (Nursing) in 1982. During her 35-year nursing career in Peoria, IL, she worked as a Registered Nurse for Methodist Medical Center, small private medical practices, and most recently, the Order of Saint Francis Medical Group. In 2017, she retired to Chandler, AZ, to enjoy time with her beloved family.
While nursing was her career, her passion was with her children and grandchildren. The perpetual “momma bear”, she would defend her children with the most fervent of hearts. Her children’s friends became her children, knowing her to be a second mom. “Momma T” was always available to listen and give the greatest hugs that a person could receive. Her way was to love everyone, as if they were her own family.
Her favorite pastimes were family gatherings, holidays, birthday celebrations, reading a great book, knitting blankets, caring endlessly for her dogs, and long conversations over coffee. She enjoyed traveling with her boys, visiting Paris, France, and Barcelona and Grenada in Spain. She was fond of making and following traditions, including putting oranges in Christmas stockings, watching “A Christmas Carol” on Christmas Eve, having conversations on the way home from work, and listening to work drama (of people she never met).
She is immensely missed by all who were privileged to know and love her.
