It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Robert Herman Scott of Chandler, Arizona. Robert passed away on November 9th 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 80.
A devoted husband and father, he was also an amazing kind and gentle soul.
His family was by his side until the very end and was partly comforted by the fact that he is now free of any earthly pain and is re-joined with our mother.
Robert was born February 17th, 1936, in Chadwick, Il to the late Clyde and Edna Scott. He was number 4 of 6 children.
He met his future wife, Valerie Jean Ballance, during a tour of duty in England while serving with the USAF. They were married on 10 March, 1956.
He loved working with his hands and aircraft maintenance came naturally to him as did his favorite hobby of wood working. He loved to spend time with his friends and had regular dates for breakfast with them. He was an avid bowler, and enjoyed walking his dog Sara. Baseball was almost an obsession with Bob, and he took his job as a fan seriously.
While in the Air Force, he served in many locations including a tour in Vietnam, various AF bases in the US, and a remote 5-year tour with his family in Goose Bay Labrador, Newfoundland, Canada.
Robert is survived by his children; Jan (Steve) Sullivan of Chandler AZ, Alan (Kathy) Scott of Rio Rancho, NM, Tracey (David) Hillis of Chandler, AZ, Robert (Blanca) Scott of Las Cruces, NM, twelve grandchildren; Adam (Bernadette) Bruha, Valerie, Amanda (Brent), Lucas (Jennifer), Alan, Kyle, Kendra (Eric), Rebecca, B’Elanna, RJ, Archer; five great grandchildren; Justice, Morgan, Madisyn, Tabitha and Victoria; a brother Neal (Jody); a brother in law, Peter; and many nephews and nieces in the US and England.
He was preceded in death by his wife Valerie, brother Ron (Dora); Sisters Phyllis (John); Shirley (Ed); Norma (Ernest); Sister in law, Jean; and Brother in laws, Keith (Flo); Graham.
A celebration of his life will be held on the 18th of November, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Valley of the Sun Chapel and Cemetery in Chandler, AZ, where he will be laid to rest.
The family would like to thank Mike Smith for being such a special and close friend over the years. His daily visits did much to lift Bob’s spirits, and helped keep him occupied and interested in life.
Thank you to all who will be here from near and far to celebrate his life.
We will all miss him terribly, but we know that God takes his Angels home in his own time.
