John Walter Strack, Jr departed this life on January 17, 2015 at the age of 87. Born in Philadelphia, PA on July 12, 1927 to the late John Walter Strack, Sr and the late Bessie Gilmore. He is also preceded in death by his brother Warren K Strack and his loving wife Ruth Mae (Stokes) Strack.
Walt's family moved to Shadeland Avenue, Drexel Hill, PA in 1931 where his parents owned and operated Strack's Fairlawn Grocery Store. Walt worked for his parents until 1960 when his father retired. Walt then went to work for Signode Steel Strapping Co in both Philadelphia, PA and Houston, TX retiring early and moving to Sun Lakes, AZ where he and Ruth enjoyed retirement until her passing in 2001. At that time Walt moved to The Renaissance where he continued to travel and enjoy the activities of retirement living up until his recent move to the assisted living area.
Walt married Ruth in 1949 in Philadelphia enjoying 51 wonderful years of marriage until her passing. They enjoyed their family especially their grandkids and the many wonderful trips they took together from road trips across the US to Hawaii to their cruises to Alaska and thru the Panama Canal.
His sense of humor and love of life will be greatly missed. The memories of Walt will remain with is daughter Linda (Jim) Loane and his son John (Gayle) Strack III, his 7 grandchildren Michele, Stacey, Jim, Lauri, Cari, Gwyn, Lance; his 14 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
An immediate family gathering is being planned to celebrate Walt's life and a private burial of his ashes will take place in the spring where Walt will be laid to rest next to his wife in Aston, PA.
