John Joseph Robinson, age 76, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024. He was born on June 5, 1948 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to his parents Beauregard J. Robinson Sr. and Mary E. Robinson.
He is survived by Connie, his wife of 46 years, a daughter, Erin (Terrance) Brown and a son, Matthew Robinson; a sister, Beth (Thomas) Steinkellner of Michigan and a brother, Robert Robinson of Cornwall on Hudson, New York. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Kaley, Jadan, McKenna Ruff and Clayah, Addison, Ashlyn, Ava and Major Robinson. He was preceded in death by his parents Beauregard and Mary Robinson; his brother, Dr. Beauregard J. Robinson and two grandchildren, Gavin and Milani Robinson.
Dr. John Robinson embarked on an extraordinary academic journey, earning degree from six different institutions, culminating in a Ph.D in Education from University of Illinois at Chicago. Before this accomplishment, he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Carroll College, a master's degree in Education Administration from State University of New York, a Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois University and a Strategic Leadership Institute from Pennsylvania State University.
John began his distinguished career as an elementary school teacher at Saint Joseph's School in Middletown, New York. From there, he was offered a coaching and teaching position at Cornwall Central High School (New York) and Skaneateles Central High School (New York). Following his professional experience in education, he began his legal career, working as a Deputy Director of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, an attorney, a Chief Probation Officer, the Undersheriff of Cook County and the Senior Vice President at Aramark Correctional Services. During this time, he was also a professor at Loyola University, UIC, Chicago State university, Governors State University, national Judicial College and Lewis University; where he additionally coached the women's basketball team (and met his wife).
In his free time, John loved to read, watch sports, travel, and spend quality time with his family. John was the kind of man who, with a warm smile and open heart, consistently went out of his way to help those in need, embodying true compassion in every action.
In closing, we remember John for his unwavering dedication, boundless curiosity, and the profound impact he made on those around him. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the many innovations he helped bring to fruition. While he will be deeply missed, his memory will be cherished and celebrated by all who knew him. May he rest in peace, knowing that his contributions will continue to inspire future generations.
