With fond memories and much love, the family of Charles C. Block announces his passing. Chuck Last his battle with cancer on April 30, 2013 and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his dear wife Ann Block, son Christopher and daughters, Leigh Ann Hannan and Jillian Block Hill. He also has two surviving sister, Martha Charchian and Christa Wilson. Chuck’s grandchildren are Justin, Katie and Shane Hill and Kelcie and Michael Hannan. Chuck has been a member of the community of Queen Creek and Higley for over forty years.
Chuck was born in Detroit, Michigan to Henry J. Block and Margaret Bowers Pate on February 7, 1938. He grew up on the family farm with his two sisters in Troy, Michigan. His father died when he was eighteen and he became the man of the family. After high school, Chuck spend one year at Perdue University, but could not pass up the opportunity to return home and work for General Motors. His father and grandfather both worked for General Motors in lifetime careers.
In 1973 Charles moved his family to Queen Creek, AZ and continues his career with GM. He worked as a metallurgist for thirty years until he retired in 1988. In retirement he achieved his lifelong dream of RVing and spent time traveling and fishing. His favorite song was Willie Nelson’s Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain. So in closing, I leave you with two lines of hope and warmth.
“Love is like a dying ember and only memories remain and through the ages I’ll remember, Blue eyes crying in the rain someday when we meet up yonder, we’ll stroll hand in hand again in land that know no parting, Blue eyes crying in the rain.”
