Alicia Viola Cerda Jones

Alicia Viola(Vi) Jones (80) of Chandler, Arizona passed away February 23, 2012 in Chandler AZ after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Juan and Beatriz Cerda of Del Rio, Texas and was born April 1st, 1931 in the Howard County (Big Springs) Texas. Viola graduated from Del Rio High School in 1949, attended Business College in Carlsbad NM and subsequently worked for The United States Air Force Civil Service at several Air Force Bases and retired as Chief of Materiel Control at Vandenberg AFB CA in 1988 with 30 years of service. Viola is survived by her husband of 54 years Thomas (Tom) of Chandler, one son, Thomas F. Jr. and his wife Diane, grandchildren Michael and Stephanie of Austin, Texas, and one daughter, Gloria A. Moore and her husband Phil, and granddaughter Samantha of Chandler and Flagstaff Arizona, and sisters Laura C Meredith of San Antonio, TX and Amelia C Acevedo of San Angelo, TX. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 28, 2012 in St Stephen’s Catholic Church, Sun Lakes,Arizona, preceded by a Rosary service at 9:30 AM with interment in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in north Phoenix. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of the Valley or your favorite charity.
