Shawn Michael Rogers, beloved husband, and father, entered into the eternal arms of Jesus and Mary in Paradise on Saturday, November 7, 2020. He was 62 years old. He was the loving husband of Cynthia Artus Rogers, and the devoted father of two daughters; Shawntel Carolyn Rogers (Thomas) and Brandy Jean Rogers. Shawn was preceded in death by his parents, the late James O. Rogers and the late Carolyn Wallace Rogers, and by his two brothers, the late Gerard Anthony Rogers (Terri) and the late Stephen P. Rogers. His surviving siblings include James Brent Rogers (Patricia), Katherine Rogers Sharp (Rob), Robert B. Rogers, and Elise Rogers Schmoorkoff (John), and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He also leaves behind his loving companion dogs Toby, Snickers, and his pet rabbit, Summer.
Shawn attended Chalmette High School, then joined the United States Navy. He then returned home, worked in Security, and eventually earned a diploma in Carpentry and A/C Refrigeration, where he worked until his illness prevented him from working.
Shawn was an all-around happy-go-lucky guy; always joking. He had an avid love for music, particularly the Beatles and Buddy Holly, and he had an extensive record collection. He was also a diehard Saints and Tulane green wave fan (he was the #1 Bestest Saints Fan ever).
On a more serious note, Shawn had an unending love and devotion for our Lord Jesus and Mary. He was a CCD teacher and a church usher for OLPS for several years. He often made sacrifices; especially pain and suffering, offering it up for the Holy Souls of Purgatory. Any time a favor was asked of him, he promptly did it. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. "Remember me with smiles and laughter; for that's the way I'll remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears, then don't remember me at all."
