Mary Arnold Gardner

Mary Ethel Arnold Gardner passed away in her home in Slidell on January 30, 2019 at age 78. She was the beloved wife of the late Huey Lee Gardner, Sr. with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Ann Hollis (Russell) and son Huey Lee Gardner, Jr. (Mary); five grandchildren, Crystal Hollis, Charles Hollis, Sean Hollis, Matthew Gardner and Andrew Gardner; one great-grandchild, Katherine Rose Hite; and her brother, David Lynn Arnold. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mattie Stafford Arnold and Charles David Arnold, Jr., and her brothers, Charles E. Arnold and Henry S. Arnold.

Mary was born at home in New Orleans on April 24, 1940 and resided in St. Bernard Parish from 1946 – 2005. She was a proud graduate of the Charity Hospital School of Nursing and she worked as a Registered Nurse for nearly 30 years at several hospitals, most notably Charity Hospital in New Orleans.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue Street, in Chalmette, on Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, with a service to be held in her honor at 1:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in Restlawn Cemetery, in Avondale.
