Mark is preceded in death by the late Alvin Ostendorf Sr., Dorothy Reggio, and Jules Reggio Jr. Mark Jr. was born in New Orleans to Mark and Dayna Ostendorf on September 10, 1985, as a Triplet. He attended school in St. Bernard Parish. Mark played sports his entire life; he loved the game and the many friends he made along the way. The greatest joy in his life was the day his daughter was born. She was his little sidekick and he enjoyed teaching her the love of the game. When she started playing ball, he stepped into the role of a coach.
You could always find Kailee and her friends at their house. He cherished being with "the girls" even off the field. He hoped to instill in them to have a good attitude and always give 100%. He was so proud of Kailee, always sharing her stats and videos of her games. In his spare time, he enjoyed throwing the cast net with family and friends down da road. He was engaged to the love of his life Keri. He was looking forward to their future and building a life with their new blended family of 5.
Mark brought so much love and laughter into everyone's life with his sense of humor. Always willing to help with anything or teach you how to do it right. In his last 2 years, Mark's faith grew stronger which brought him closer to God. His last quote he shared was, "God, I have no idea where you are taking me, but I trust you". He kept a smile on his face and was always positive throughout his cancer journey. Mark was the bravest and most courageous warrior who taught everyone to never give up.
His family would like to Thank the team of medical professionals at UMC and NIH who cared for Mark during his cancer fight. Especially Dr. Boulmay, Dr. Cable, Dr. Zakris, Ms. Norma Leblanc, Ms. Sandbeth and Ms. Mary Jane Ong. A special thanks to his nurse Christopher who took the utmost care of him in his final hours.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a gathering in Mark’s memory on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue Street, in Chalmette, from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM. A moment of remembrance in which memories will be shared by the family will begin at 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established for Kailee’s future. Check cans be written out to Kailee Ostendorf and given to her guardian Dayna Ostendorf (MawMaw).
