Louis John Daverede Jr. passed away peacefully on May 17, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 19, 1927 in New Orleans. In the 97 years that Louis lived he was many things to many people – a dedicated family man, a loving husband, father and grandfather, a son, a brother, an uncle and a friend. He was proud to serve as a U.S. Marine in the World War II and the Korean War.
In his retirement, Louis enjoyed fishing, ceramics, making earrings out of Mardi Gras Beads and wood carving. Louis loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. He enjoyed the St. Bernard Council on Aging and traveling with AARP and taking cruises.
He was a life-long resident of St. Bernard Parish and remained a resident after Hurricane Katrina.
He is preceded in death by his parents Louis John Daverede Sr. and Frances Miller Daverede, his beloved wife, Joyce Carday Daverede and loving son, Louis John Daverede III. He is survived by his daughter, Lois Daverede-Newman (Fred), his grandson, Bradley Louis Daverede (Belle) and his granddaughter Brielle Daverede-Hart (Kenneth) and great grandchildren, Chapel, Carday, and Cort Daverede and Kenneth Cru Hart. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Christian Burial was held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home. He was laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
