Carrie “Libby” Sheets Mangano passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at the age of 84. She was the cherished wife of the late Joseph “Johnny” Mangano Sr., and by previous marriage, the loving wife of the late Vincent Tozel. Loving mother of Cindi Vessell, Sandy Tozel and Wendy Musso. Daughter of the late Ethel and Clarence Sheets. Sister of Mitzie Sheets, Jimmy Sheets, Jocky Sheets, Warren Sheets and the late Peggy Sheets and Janet Sheets. Proud grandmother of Shane Moran, Randy Mackles and Logan Musso. Great grandmother of Paisley Moran and Carson Moran. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Born in Virginia, Libby was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish, where she became known for her warmth, kindness, and her unwavering loyalty to her loved ones. She loved celebrating the ups and downs of the New Orleans Saints, always cheering passionately for her team. She had a special spot in her heart for Drew Brees and Elvis – and heaven help anyone who tried to disturb her during her favorite soap operas! She found joy in hosting card games, surrounded by family and friends. Her home was also filled with her cherished collection of porcelain dolls, a testament to her love for the finer details of life. As a hobbyist, Libby’s paintings were a reflection of her creativity and appreciation for beauty in all things. Above all, Libby’s greatest gift was her ability to care for others. She loved deeply, whether it was her family, friends, or anyone who had the privilege of meeting her. Her laughter and caring spirit were a constant source of joy to those around her, and she was especially known for spoiling her grandchildren. Libby’s life was a shining example of dedication, selflessness, and the importance of cherishing the small moments. She will forever be remembered for her loving heart, her devotion to her family, and her ability to make everyone feel special. Rest in peace, dear Libby. You will be deeply missed by us all and the wonderful memories you created will never be forgotten.
