Lamont "Whip" Murphy, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished companion, passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. He is survived by his loving daughters, Melinda Hall (late Rusty Hall) and Michelle Uplinger (Dean), and was a proud grandfather to Zachary (Nataliya), Marisa, Henry, Mia, & Liam; and beloved by his half-siblings Dale (Nick) and Billy (Rene). His legacy extends to four great-grandchildren, whose lives he enriched with his love and wisdom.
Lamont was the only child between Lamont T. Murphy and Cecile Leitz Murphy. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to found the Breakfast Club Restaurant and manage several family businesses, including L. Murphy Trucking, L. Murphy Sand, Murphy Construction, and Seelos Trailer Parks.
For the past 12 years, Lamont was the beloved companion of Cindy Armond and her family, who brought him much joy and happiness.
Known for his outgoing personality and generosity, Lamont never met a stranger. He had a passion for entertaining and shared many memorable meals with friends and family. In his youth, he enjoyed golf, but his true joy came from playing cards with friends in the Man Cave. His constant companion and "favorite daughter" was his dog Lola, who brought him great comfort and companionship.
Lamont "Whip" Murphy will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him. His larger-than-life presence, kindness, and love for life have left a memorable mark on those he leaves behind.
Rest in peace, Lamont. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at OUR LADY OF PROMPT SUCCOR CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, July 13th from 10:00AM – 12:00PM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Lamont’s memory beginning at 12:00PM. He will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
