John “JC” Clarence Roper passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the age of 86. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy Rome Roper for 52 years. Loving father of Jane Roper Marshall (Andrew) and the late John S. Roper. Son of the late Cleveland and Lucia Minvielle Roper. Brother of Lucille F. Perret, Edward L. Roper, Marie Louise Wisinski, Edgar Roper, Charles “Joe” Roper and Cleveland “Junior” Roper. Proud grandfather of Jason Roper, Andrew Marshall III and Melissa Marshall York. Great grandfather of Rachael, Caroline, Emily, Andrew IV, Mackenzie, Molly Jane and Kendall. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and special friend Esperanza McGee. John was a United States Navy Veteran, Seaman 1st Class, and proudly served in the Korean Conflict. He was born October 12, 1929 in Algiers, LA and was a resident of St. Bernard Parish for 57 years. After Hurricane Katrina he relocated to Prairieville, LA. John was a crane operator and welder for Kaiser Aluminum and retired in 1983 and retired after 30 years of service. John had a passion for woodworking and could fix anything. John will be forever remembered as Mr. Fix It and deeply missed by all who knew him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will begin at 1:00 PM. He will be laid to rest with military honors in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
