John Joseph Camp III, 74, of Arabi, LA, passed away on July 11, 2024. Born in New Orleans, LA to loving parents John Joseph Camp Jr., and Vivian Marguerite Camp. He is survived by his sisters, Barbara Ann Williams (George) and Jane Marie Doseff (Chris); his nephew Michael J. Williams (Carol); his nieces, Sherry A. Johnston (Gregory), Lisa G. Cook (Aubrey) and Tina M. Guerra; great nieces, Rebekah G. Tomblin and Natalie F. Tomblin; special friend Viola Sorrells. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Throughout his career, John served faithfully as a security guard at Charity Hospital for many years, where his dedication to safety and compassion for others touched many lives. He was known for his unwavering commitment to his duties and his warm smile that greeted patients, staff, and visitors alike.
Outside of work, John found joy in the company of German Shepherds and cats, who were his faithful companions over the years. He cherished their companionship and found solace in their presence. He enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and any old west movies along with wrestling. His past time pleasure was going to the casino trying his luck. John's legacy is one of dedication, kindness, and love for both his family and his furry friends. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, July 18th from 11:00AM – 1:00PM, followed by a Memorial Mass in John’s memory beginning at 1:00PM. He will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
