Glen Earl Bauer was called to his heavenly home on July 25, 2023, at the age of 71. He was born on December 12, 1951, to Calvin Roy Bauer Sr., and Orris Louise Doescher Bauer. Glen attended Gethsemane Lutheran Elementary School, graduated from Chalmette High School and graduated from Delgado Community College with a printing degree. He was very proud of his Delgado ring. Glen worked several years in the printing occupation. He worked at the Michoud NASA Facility as a printer, and his boss invited him to attend one of the astronaut space launches in Florida. He was proud of that special experience.
Glen was a long-time resident of Chalmette, LA until Hurricane Katrina. He loved Mardi Gras and was a member of the Endymion Organization for a few years in their early beginning years. He enjoyed photography and would take photos of the Endymion floats and royalty long after being a non-member. Glen would send the club those pictures he took. He was a Saints football fan and would show his support by frequently wearing Saints shirts. He was a Christian. Glen was baptized and confirmed in his Lutheran faith. His godparents were the late Earl John Doescher Jr. and the late Shirley Doescher Helmke.
Glen leaves behind to treasure his memories, his siblings, Linda Bauer Collin (Leander “Lee”), Calvin Roy Bauer Jr. (Cindy) and Rhonda Bauer Blohm (Frederick); his nieces, Nicole Bauer LaCava (Brett) and Brenda Louise Blohm; his great-nieces, Quinn LaCava and Hayley LaCava; his best friend and cousin, Earl (Fritz) John Doescher III; his godson, Chad Edward Doescher and his special aunt Iris Doescher Vidacovich. Glen had a good and kind heart and will be greatly missed.
