Frank Xavier Resendez passed away peacefully on Friday, September 10, 2021 at the age of 88. He was a loving husband to his late wife, Doris Silcio Resendez. Son of the late Maria Garcia Resendez and Jesse Resendez. Frank was preceded in death by his siblings, Alfred Resendez, Mary Bradford, Henry Resendez, Albert Resendez, Author Resendez and Jesse Resendez, and his son, Frank Resendez Jr.
He is survived by his brother, Robert Bradford (Debbie), son, Jesse Resendez Sr. (and family), and his daughter, Lynn Holmes (Jay Holmes). Grandchildren, Joe Paillot, Tiffany Wimberly, Candice Waldrop (Cody Waldrop). Great-grandchildren David Wimberly, Hailey Wimberly, Mason Wimberly, Rowdy Waldrop, and Rowan Waldrop, and several nieces and nephews.
Frank was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish, finally settling in MS with his daughter and son-in-law since 2010. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Following his military service, Frank enjoyed a long career as a Firefighter, retiring from the New Orleans Fire Department. He was also a member of the Archbishop Rummel “Council 5747” Knights of Columbus.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, 9/22/2021 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, 9/23/2021 begin at 1:00pm. He will be laid to rest in St. Louis Cemetery No. 3, New Orleans, LA. Due to COVID-19, face masks and social distancing are required.
