Eleonore Authement Macaluso passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the age of 81. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that She had touched in some way throughout her memorable life. She was the cherished wife of 63 years to Anthony Macaluso. She was preceded in death by her parents Miriam Gouguet Authement & Edward F. Authement; her sister Miriam A. Maynard (Marshall), her brother Edward Authement Jr. (Joan); her mother-in-law Elizabeth Faldetta Macaluso; and her father-in-law Philip B. Macaluso Sr. Eleonore is also survived and fondly remembered by her brother-in-law Salvadore Macaluso (Aline), sister-in-law Josephine Macaluso, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Eleonore was born on November 9, 1942 in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of St. Bernard Parish for over 60 years where she was the proud owner of Hook N Line Sporting Goods for 26 years. Upon retiring, she continued to be an active and beloved figure in St. Bernard Parish.
Known for her kind spirit and love of festivities, Eleonore was a longtime member of the Shangri-La Carnival Krewe, where she delighted in the joy of carnival time. Her love for life extended to her passion for travel - she relished vacations, cruises, and bus trips, but her greatest joy was found in fishing, a pursuit that brought her peace and fulfillment.
Eleonore will be remembered for her warmth, her generosity, and her unwavering love for her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and community spirit that will be cherished by all who knew her. Rest in peace, dear Eleonore. Your memory will forever live on in our hearts.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, June 22nd from 9:00AM – 11:00AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Eleonore’s memory beginning at 11:00AM. She will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. A reception in the Magnolia Room at St. Bernard Memorial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, Masses in memory of Eleonore preferred.
