Charles Edward Whitley

Charles Edward Whitley passed away on June 6, 2018 at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Nappi Whitley for 61 years. Loving father of Edie Schulz (Wayne), Veneta Gautreaux (the late Edmond), Melissa Gaspard (Brian) and the late Sherry Towle. Son of the late Fletcher and Erline Whitley. Brother of Mildred Smith and the late Lewis Whitley, Ruby Hill, Mary Ruth England and Lloyd Whitley. Proud grandfather of Nicole Tschirn (Robert), Christopher Schulz (Rachel), Austin Towle, Joseph Tyler Shellabarger (Elizabeth), Ashleigh Towle, Joshua Gaspard and Amber Gaspard. Great grandfather of Harrison, Penelope and Liam. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Charles was born on July 3, 1938 in Hubbertville, AL. Since 1962 he has been a resident of the Greater New Orleans Area. He was an engineer for Channel 4 and retired after 37 years of dedicated service. He was a devoted member and elder of Chalmette Church of Christ for many years. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by his family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. Interment will be private.
