William Cecil Jones, age 90, of West Blocton, Alabama passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024. Cecil was born in Piper, Alabama and attended Oak Grove High School. He also lived in Hueytown, Alabama for many years. He married his high school sweetheart, Ima Jean, and they dedicated their lives to caring for their family. They became members of Lowerytown Baptist Church in 1988, where he was a deacon and a faithful member as recently as Easter Sunday. His lifelong career was driving trucks for Chevron and McCullough Oil Co, where he retired to care for his wife. In his retirement, he enjoyed cutting his own grass as well as mowing for his loved ones. He found peace talking to the Lord on his zero-turn mower. He always lit up a room with his smile and infectious laughter. His love for Auburn football on Saturdays was the only thing that divided his family, but love kept them together.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Clayton Jones; mother, Leither Rice Jones; his wife, Ima Jean Jones; brothers, H. C. Jones, Tom Jones, and Robert Gardner Jones; and sisters, Eleanor Edwards and Helen Marie Bush. He is survived by his two sons, Cecil Jones (Elaine), and Mikee Jones (Sherri); four grandchildren, Daniel Hays, Christin Jones, Brian Jones, and Blake Jones; one great-grandchild, Aiden Parks; sister-in-law, Myrtle Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for William will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 11:00 AM at Mount Carmel Cemetery, West Blocton, West Blocton, AL 35184.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Lowerytown Baptist Church, 49 Lowerytown Road, West Blocton, AL 35184.
