Roy "Buddy" Clifton Rice Jr.

A graveside service for Buddy will be held Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Johntown Cemetery, 5201 Vance Rd, West Blocton, Alabama 35184. Rev. Tommy Easterwood officiating, Rockco Funeral Home Centreville directing. Pallbearers are Joe Rice, Howard Hayes, Brenton Windle, Fisher Heaton, Keith Sides and Bourke Thomas.

The son of Roy Clifton and Jean Elliott Rice of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, he is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Virgil and Nettie Rice, and Lloyd and Della Elliott; his wife, Jewel Hayes Rice; and two sisters, Rebecca Rice and Susie Yancy.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Kelley; two daughters, Misty Kelley (Bourke) and Dana Sides (Keith); two grandsons, Kalob Phelps and Jase "Tater Chip" Thomas; two sisters, Pat Windle (Buren) and Juanita Runyon (Joey); two brothers, Wally Rice and Joe Rice (Carol); many nieces, nephew and cousins; and his close fishing buddies and riding buddies.

Buddy was a graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School where he played football and was a featured artist on the PBS Young Artist series. He retired from Phifer Inc., having worked there for many years.

He was an avid outdoorsman - hunting and fishing since he was a boy. His artwork often featured the woods and a prized buck or two! He loved fishing and participated in many fishing tournaments. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and he and Janice loved riding trikes together.
