ROMALETA JAMES, age 79, of Harrisburg, Alabama entered into rest on Saturday April 20, 2019 at Bibb Medical Center. Romaleta was born January 22, 1940 to Walter Pace Turner and Myrlie Marie Franklin Turner.
She is survived by her son, Jeff James(Teresa Horne) of Harrisburg; brother, Walter Pace "Skip" Turner, Jr.(Linda Jaye) of Brookwood, their children, Leslie, Chip and B.J.; grandchildren, Jason James(Lindsey McDonald) of Harrisburg, Danny James of Harrisburg, Caitlin James Graff(Aaron) of Antioch, Elijah James(Kailee Burnett) and Ethan James(Olivia Myers) of Auburn; 5 great grandchildren, Logan James, Aubrie and Ava James of Harrisburg, Jonathan and Alina Graff of Antioch.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dan James; daughter, Robin James; her parents; her step father, John Franklin Johnston, Jr.
Romaleta graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School; got her Master of Science degree in Home Economics at the University of Alabama. She retired from DHR in Centreville. She was a Sunday School Teacher, Certified Tax Preparer; Treasurer and Board member of Bibb County Farmers Federation, member of Bibb County Ham Radio Operators Club, International Wood Collectors Society, Board member of Bibb County DHR, volunteer with Bibb County United Christian Ministries. Among others, Matron, provider and protector of her brood. Determined, committed and supportive of her faith, family, community and ideals. She was not a bystander. She will be missed.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Bethel Cemetery - Hwy 5/25 S, Brent, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Bibles be placed in her memory and support of Gideon's International.
