Our beloved wife and mother, Lynn Johnson, entered Heaven on November 28, 2024. We know that though our grief is tremendous, she is full of joy to see her precious daughter Amy and her darling grandson Drew again in glory. Her life was not always easy, often tinged with immeasurable sadness, especially following the unexpected deaths of Amy, Drew and Jesse, but her strength evolved and her love grew deeper. Lynn is remembered for her loyalty and fierce love for her family. She fully devoted herself to her sons, Matthew and Andy, and to Gerald, her treasured husband and partner of 56 years.
She graced her friends and neighbors with kindness and charity, and her lovely smile and bright eyes were a welcome and happy sight to anyone fortunate enough to be in her presence. Most fall Friday nights, she could be found high in the stands on the 50 yard line under the stadium lights cheering on her favorite Bibb County Choctaws, and she was a fan of Alabama sports of all kinds. Her joy was evident to all around her and she truly exhibited friendship and love in every way possible. Her absence will be heavy and her beautiful soul will be greatly missed.
Connie Lynn was born October 19, 1950, to Connie Rowe and Euell Crews. She was the baby of the family’s seven children, and was a lifelong presence in the Pondville Community. Lynn is survived by her husband, Gerald; her sons, Matthew (Lori) of Pondville, and Andy (Kim) of West Blocton; grandsons, Josh and Jake Hicks; her sister, Nanette McKinney; and many nieces, nephews and other special family members and friends she loved dearly. Preceding her in death were her daughter, Amanda Renee “Amy” Johnson; grandsons, Andrew Wayne “Drew” Johnson, and Jesse Hicks; her parents, Connie and Euell; brothers, Billy Joe Rowe, Dewitt Rowe, Malcolm “Tom” Rowe, and James Earl “Jim” Rowe; and sister, Doris Jean Rowe.
A Remembrance Service is to be held at Pondville Methodist Church on Saturday, November 30, at noon, preceded by an hour of visitation, beginning at 11 am. Pallbearers are Jeff McKinney, Dane McKinney, Kevin Rowe, Steve Rowe and Kerry Rowe. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
