Silas was born on August 28, 1928, to Thomas Leon and Dorothy Guy of Norphlet, Arkansas. His formative years were spent in sunny California. On October 30, 1965, Silas married the love of his life, Mary (Dottie) Sackett. He brought his three children into their family: Ronald James Guy, Dorothy Ruth Guy, and David Leon Guy.
Silas led an illustrious and fascinating life. His diverse list of accomplishments include serving in the Army National Guard, mining for gold and tungsten, and building a golf course. Within his lifetime Silas was a gas station operator, a restauranteur, a police officer, a machinist, a cattle rancher, a pilot who owned his own plane, a pre-hung and door manufacturer, a long haul truck driver, and he also ran a bed and breakfast alongside his wife. Silas was a man of many talents who could build or repair most anything. Forever a patriot, he had a special affinity for eagles and the American flag.
Silas was proceeded in death by his daughter Dorothy R. Knight, his son Ronald J. Guy, and granddaughter Caryn M. Knight.
Silas is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Dottie, as well as 34 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. August 26, 2023 at God’s Place Ministries (100 Oyler Rd and Hwy 12, Ethel, WA 98542.)
