James Robert Davidson, Sr. was born to James Markin and Mildred Davidson on December 27, 1936 in Virginia Mason Hospital, Seattle and passed into the arms of the Lord on June 20, 2012. He attended Lafayette Grade School, West Seattle High School and entered the US Army following high school.
He was stationed, with the 2nd Armored Division of the US Army headquartered in Bad Kreuznach,Germany, where he was a member of the rifle team. Jim returned to Seattle after his discharge where he married Darlene Tibbet and his daughter Kathleen (Andrews) was born.
Jim later moved to California where he met and married Sharon Desper Their family includes sons, Steve and Jim and daughters, Lori Davidson, Patricia Davidson and Christine Davidson. They later returned to Washington where Jim completed the lineman apprentice program in 1972. He accepted a position with Puget Sound Energy where he worked until his retirement in 1994.
Jim and Lynn Lovenborg were married in 1995. They lived in Puyallup until moving to Chehalis in 2006. They lost their home in the December 2007 flood. At the age of 71, Jim rebuilt his home.
Jim was a true renaissance man. He never said, “I can't” he always said, “Why not?” He questioned, investigated and explored. His many interests included flying, earning his private pilot's license in 1979. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, as well as a member of Twin Lakes Golf Club in Federal Way. He explored scuba diving, RVed for many years and, of course, boating, which brought many interesting times. More than anything, Jim loved riding his motorcycle. His first “bike” was a Whizzer and from there he progressed to a Yamaha trail bike, Honda Gold Wing, Harley Davidson Road King, Harley Davidson Fat Boy and back to a Honda Gold Wing. It was Jim's dream to ride through the western United States again, but a recurrence of cancer in 2009 prevented that trip. He did travel to England and Scotland in 2011, a trip he had always dreamed of taking. He had the opportunity to research his family, who immigrated from Glasgow, Scotland in the early 1800's.
Jim was an accomplished woodworker, photographer, Sudoku enthusiast, and even though he was hesitant to admit it, quite accomplished in cross stitch needle work.
In addition to his surviving children and wife, Lynn, Jim leaves his grandchildren; David Hill, Jacob Turner, Eric Rockl, Savannah Davidson, Jakob Davidson and Peyton Rose Davidson; and many neices and nephews Jim's spirit lives on in his family. He remains in our hearts. We look forward to the time when we are joined in love and peace in our Father's heavenly kingdom.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Markin and Mildred Davidson, Sharon Davidson, and sisters; Donna Sutton, Betty Westvik and Claudia Neff.
