Colleen took her first breath on October 4th, 1932. Christened “Carma Colleen Nye“ she was born to Harry Earl Nye Sr. and Mary Alice Nye of Buhl, Idaho. A caring sister and graduate of Hazelton High School of Idaho, she worked a union shop job for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle while raising two young children and surviving uterine cancer. She later worked many years for the Department of Natural Resources in Lewis County. Active even in her freetime, Colleen was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for 40 years, and the chapter secretary for the Washington Retired Members Union #1617.
Colleen was an independent spirit, for whom family served as a higher calling. She found invigorated purpose in her fierce, protective, unconditional love for her grandchildren. Church opened her to new meaning and awareness. In 2003 she volunteered humanitarian aid in Barbados through Destiny Christian Center. Later in life, through the miracle of DNA, she rediscovered two additional children she had given up for adoption in her early life. She reunited them strongly and lovingly into the family, making her life journey whole.
