Florence Talluto was born July 21, 1933 to Maude Corrody Waldinger and Joseph Waldinger in Queens, New York and was the second of three girls. Florence was married to Joseph Talluto November 17, 1956 and was mother to Francis, Christopher, Regina, and Maria.
As a woman of strong conviction and faith, Florence dedicated her life to the church and her community and was involved in several organizations including the Rosary Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, Long Island Birthright, Right to Life, and Prayer Ministry. Florence worked as the business manager of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Centereach until her retirement at the age of 77 and was a past religious education director of that same parish. In retirement, Florence continued to dedicate herself to service and spent her free time knitting hats for infants in need, sewing dresses for children affected by natural disasters in Haiti, and volunteering at local food pantries. Florence enjoyed reading, traveling with family, and gardening and was known to be as skilled at gardening as she was not at cooking.
Florence passed away May 13, 2022 at the age of 88. She is survived by her sister Gertrude, children Francis, Christopher, Regina, and Maria, grandchildren William, Rachel, Joseph, and Danielle, and great-granddaughter Nora.
Friends and family are invited to gather in her memory at OB Davis Funeral Home in Centereach Friday, May 20 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm for wake services and Saturday, May 21 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church at 10:15 for funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Long Island Birthright or Friar Suppliers in Florence’s name.
In Florence’s memory, her family would like to wish you what she wished onto us countless times throughout her life, “God’s special blessings and love”.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.obdaviscentereach.com for the Talluto family.
