She was born to parents Mr. and Mrs. Albert Taylor of Baltic, Conn., and grew up there, graduating from Windham High School in Willimantic, Conn., in 1952. She graduated from Mount Ida Junior college two years later before going to work at Norwich Hospital as a medical technician.
Jean met her husband Stu, at a school reunion. They married and moved to Westbrook, Conn., where Stu worked for most of his career as a mail carrier. They had three sons, Stuart Taylor, who passed in 2007, Mark, 63, who lives in Richardson, Texas, and Eric, 60 who resides in Raymond, Maine. When the kids were growing up, Jean worked as a teacher’s assistant at Westbrook Elementary School and later worked at the Shoreline Clinic as a medical technologist.
The family enjoyed vacations at Franklin Pierce Lake in New Hampshire during the summer and skiing at Mount Sunapee in the winter. Closer to home, Jean enjoyed spending time at West Beach in Westbrook. She was on the sidelines at all her sons’ little league, soccer and basketball games and was a doting grandmother as well.
Jean and her husband were active members of the Congregational Church of Westbrook, Conn., and after Stu passed in 2008, she continued to stay busy volunteering at local soup kitchens and as a member of the church book club and the Pukwana Club. She also cred for her older sister Barbara Taylor, until she passed in 2015.
In addition to her two sons, Jean is survived by her grandchildren, Blake Colby, Makenna Colby, Ian Colby and Emma Colby.
A Public Visitation will be held for Jean on Wednesday, July 24th, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Robinson Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, Centerbrook, CT 06409. A Prayer Service will immediately follow in the Funeral Home Chapel.
