Gail M. Barber, 85, of Old Saybrook, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 11th, at Ocean Meadows Memory Care in Clinton. Born in New London to John J. Molloy and Teresa Hausmann Molloy, Gail cherished her roots in Old Lyme, where she graduated from high school in a class of just 29 students.
Gail spent most of her working life at R. R. Donnelley in Old Saybrook as a buyer, retiring in 2001 after 27 years. A devoted member of St. John Church in Old Saybrook, she gave her time generously to church committees and her community. She found joy in traveling, especially cruising and trips to Newport, RI, often making lifelong friends along the way. Following her grandchildren's achievements brought her endless happiness.
Gail is survived by her loving husband, William Barber; sons Stephen Fuller (Rosemary) and John Fuller (Susan); daughter Kristen Commander (Robert); and her grandchildren, Ryan Fuller (Georgia), Kasey Commander (Tyler), and Matthew Fuller.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19th, from 4–6 PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 20th, at 10 AM at St. John Church, 161 Main Street in Old Saybrook. Inurnment will immediately follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Sheffield Street in Old Saybrook.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Gail’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Way, Memphis, TN 38105
