Dolores Antoinnette Newman, 77, of Westbrook unexpectedly passed away on February 6, 2014 at the Lake Wales Medical Center in Lake Wales, Florida. She was the beloved wife of Edward M. Newman. Dolores was born in Cumberland, Rhode Island on April 29, 1936, the daughter of Anthony H. and Mary Rose (Petrin) Gomes. She had worked at W.T. Grants Company formerly of Old Saybrook and the Old Saybrook Town Hall. Dolores was also a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Clinton for 14 years. She was a member of the Westbrook Lodge of Elks Auxiliary and the Emblem Club. She is survived by her husband Edward of Westbrook, her sons, George Antone and his wife Colleen of Ivoryton, David Antone and his wife Nancy of Tucson, AZ, her daughters, Debra Allen and her husband Dennis of Westbrook, and Nancy Antone of Old Saybrook. She also leaves her eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Dolores was predeceased by her brother, Ernest Gomes. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 1:00PM at the Robinson, Wright, & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. Interment will be held at a later date in the Riverside Cemetery in Old Saybrook.
