Cindy Marvin Fifield, age 62, passed away at her home in Gales Ferry on August 4, 2011. Cindy was born June 11, 1949 in New Haven the daughter of the late Cynthia Hatch Fifield of Madison and Hugh Sanford Fifield of Branford. Cindy was a resident for twenty five years of the Inchcliff Group Home operated by Mosaic, an organization that serves individuals with mental disabilities. Cindy lived with five other residents and was attending an Easter Seals' day program after returning from her job as a baker at Seabird's Bakery. The Mosaic program and staff offered Cindy many enriching activities that she loved, running the house that became her home and overseeing with compassion her treatment and care during her recent illness. Cindy was a much-loved member of her community and family, and was known for her wonderful humor and caring nature. Everyone who spent time with Cindy commented on how easy going and fun she was. Cindy enjoyed social activities, especially time with family, friends and staff and looked forward to celebrations, especially birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas with her sibling's families. Cindy always enjoyed watching her favorite shows and movies, and spent many hours making art. She loved to laugh and entertain others with humorous and dramatic stories. She was very attached to her family and friends especially her late and beloved mother Cynthia. Cindy will be remembered by her family, housemates and staff for her loving spirit, loving personality and her many inner resources. She looked at the world with such a hopeful and bright perspective, one that will be dearly missed and held as her lasting legacy. Her family is grateful to those at Mosaic and other organizations that cared for and encouraged Cindy throughout her years at Inchcliff. She is survived by her brother Jim Fifield, his wife Gina, and their children, Lauren and Ted Fifield of Westbrook, her sister, Frances and her children, Emily and Katie Serwer of New York City. Cindy's funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the First Congregational Church of Westbrook, 1166 Boston Post Road. A reception will follow at the Church. Private Burial will be held in the Center Cemetery in Branford.
