Born to Ansel Bernard Sampson and Ella Grace Lockrem in Britton, South Dakota in 1933, he graduated in 1951 from Moorhead High School and enlisted in the US Army. Soon thereafter he learned he would be deployed to Germany and arranged to marry his high school sweetheart Eunice Carlson, in Red Bank New Jersey and she was able to join him overseas a few months later. He served in the US Army Signal Corps and while stationed in Germany, Eunice gave birth to their first child, Steve. Once back in the states, they settled in Minnesota and he attended Northwest TV & Electronics School with a specialization in Technical Electronics. After that they moved to Buffalo, NY; Sacramento, CA; Boulder, CO; Salt Lake City, UT and then eventually decided to return for good to beautiful Colorado.
With a passion and knack for electronics, Wayne had a long career with Univac / Remington Rand / Sperry Rand and Unisys working on the cutting edge of the computer industry. He continued his love for electronics by assisting family and friends with their personal computers and home networks all throughout his life. A side hobby had him running the musical programs at many of the churches that they attended.
He was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking, golfing and biking. But most important of all to him was family. He reveled in spending as much time as possible with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eunice; son Steve and wife Lisa Sampson of Parker, CO; son Greg and wife Gudelia Sampson of Centennial, CO; and daughter Debra and husband Russ Harry of Issaquah, WA, along with 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
