Survivors include his wife Lillian; his sons Thomas A. Mee and Cheryl McDermott, Ronald Mee and Sue Bruha, Richard Mee and Allan Kerr, and David Mee; grandchildren Lisa and Jeremy Larsen, Thomas M. and Amy Mee; sisters Elwyna Jorgensen, Marianne Mee and Marilyn Mee.
Tom’s childhood was spent at the Garden Farm Dairy with his siblings, Elwyna Lambert, Jim and Maxine Mee. The Mee siblings’ relationship was exemplary, laying the groundwork for a tightly knit, loving, extended family.
During WWII, Tom and his older brother Jim joined the Navy, where he expanded his knowledge of everything mechanical. He was a Motor Machinist’s Second Class USNR stationed in the Philippines. In 1947, he met the love of his life, Lillian Gettman. They married a year later on September 4th, 1948.
Tom and his brother Jim purchased 56 acres on Parker Road in 1958 where they built a carnation greenhouse and raised their families. Tom worked in the dairy during the week as a Chief Engineer and at Monarch Green Houses on the weekend. He was committed to community service and never lost his passion for designing and making things work faster and better.
Tom was active with the maintenance at Ave Maria Church. He and Jim designed, built and installed the spiritual lights in the sanctuary that are in place today. They were awarded “Volunteer of the Year” at the Church.
A Rosary will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, May 8, 2017 at Ave Maria Catholic Parish, 9056 E Parker Rd, Parker, CO 80138. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am, Monday, at the church. A reception will also be held at the church. A private interment will be held at 3:00 pm at Olinger Chapel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the "Ave Maria Parish Elevator Fundraiser" , 9056 E. Parker Rd, Parker CO 80138.
