

Pete Maguire was born October 4th 1924 in County Leitrim Ireland, one of three sons, to John Joe Maguire and Bridget (Farrelly) Maguire. His older brother, Sean remained in Ireland working the family farm with his mother- John Joe having passed away when the boys were very young. Pete and his younger brother, Mike, came to America. Pete arrived when he was in his early 20's. Mike settled in Chicago and became a policeman. Pete arrived in New York where his first job was loading oil drums off of ships. He soon went to Chicago where he found work as a carpet salesman at Carson Pirie Scott department store on State Street, where he met Patricia. They were married June 30, 1951 and moved to Rockford IL where he began working for Texaco. After a year Texaco transferred him to Greeley CO where he represented Texaco as a sales representative, providing products and service to Texaco Station owners and operators. They had two children, Dan and Kathy, and were transferred several times more living in Denver, Durango, Grand Junction and finally south of Denver in Littleton CO. Pat Maguire died in May of 2000. Pete passed away of congestive heart failure in Littleton CO on September 15th 2011. He is survived by his children Dan Maguire, in the Chicago area, and Kathy (Maguire) Taylor of Highlands Ranch CO, along with 4 grandchilden: Pete Maguire, Matt Maguire, Kelly Maguire and Ryan Taylor.
