Paula Phipps DeMuth was born in Omaha, Nebraska on March 23, 1932, and left this earth on December 10, 2019 in Denver, Colorado. In those 87 wonderful years, she touched more lives than she could ever imagine.
Paula was a quiet and gentle girl who had many close friendships. She attended the University of Nebraska where she earned her teaching degree. Also at college, Paula met her first husband, David Robert Phipps, and they married in 1954 after graduation.
Paula and David had two children – David and Leigh – and Paula embarked on the greatest joy of her life: raising her children. David and Leigh agree that she was truly an incredible mother. After her husband’s sudden death in 1973, Paula found love again. She always said that she was fortunate to have found two loves of her life. In 1987, she married Laurence DeMuth. Married for 32 years, she and Larry traveled the world and shared new experiences, cultures, and people.
Paula was many things: a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an aunt, a teacher, a friend, a neighbor, a Delta Gamma, an avid bowler, and so much more. She cherished and nurtured each of those relationships. This is truly Paula’s legacy – she leaves behind the lives she touched with her selfless love, her gentle strength, and her amazing spirit. She will be dearly missed.
Paula is survived by her husband, Laurence W. DeMuth; children David N. and Leigh K.; grandchildren Ryan D. (Laurie), Kevin L., and Taryn L., and daughter-in-law Tori. She was preceded in death by her first husband, David Robert Phipps.
Services will be held Thursday, December 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Olinger Chapel Hill, 6601 S. Colorado Blvd., Centennial, Colorado.
