July 12, 1935-February 21, 2015
Patricia Marks passed away peacefully at her Castle Pines home from complications of lung cancer with loving family by her side on Feb 21, thirteen years to the day after the passing of her devoted husband. Patty was born in Denver at St. Luke’s Hospital on July 12, 1935 to Thomas and Marie Pointer. Raised in the family home her grandfather built at 653 Fillmore St., she was a gifted pianist and vocalist, Job’s Daughters Honored Queen of Park Hill Bethel #4 and member of the East High White Jackets.
An East High graduate, class of ’53, she attended Graceland College, Lamoni, Iowa for 2 years with plans to finish her degree at UNC. Fate intervened when she met T. Keith Marks who convinced her on their first date to attend the University of Colorado. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and graduated in 1957 with an Elementary Education Degree.
Keith and Patty married in Denver on September 8, 1956. They were a hardworking, warm and generous couple and together they created a home filled with laughter. They enjoyed traveling, dancing, golf and their home away from home in Snowmass.
Patricia loved things tidy and was at her happiest rearranging furniture and remodeling. Witty and outgoing, she never met a stranger. She excelled at motherhood, her chosen career, and lovingly raised 3 children. She is survived by children and grandchildren Stephen and wife Mara Marks of Columbine Valley and son Colby, Shelley Marks of Basalt and children Christina and Nicholas, Stacey and husband Jim Lemcke of Daniel Island, SC and son Keith and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 45 years, Keith, a fellow Colorado native and an exploration geologist in the oil and gas industry.
The family wishes to thank her dedicated physician Dr. Robert Jotte, and his oncology staff, the compassionate staff and caregivers at Bayada Home Health Care and her beloved care team and nurse Wendy McPhillips of Legacy Hospice.
